Meetic.com is one of Europe’s most popular dating websites and it’s making its place in the UK market. Without wanting to overstate meetic.com’s positive elements too early on, we would definitely recommend this dating website for people in the UK who are looking to meet someone not only in the UK, but  are also open to dating further afield.

At any one time there can be 60,000 members online, chatting and flirting on meetic.com. An impressive number, we’re sure you’ll agree! A basic search with a 20 mile radius in a main city in the UK gave a massive number of results (more than we could count). One of the strong pulls of meetic.com, though, is in its European focus, which does set it aside from other UK based dating sites. Even if you’re not interested in having a long distance relationship for a long time it’s a good way to get to make friends who might want to let you share a sofa or visit their city some time.

The site is easy to join and most members have decent quality photos on their profiles. Profiles are often too brief, though, with a few key facts and a line or two about the person. That said, it is down to the individual to put as much information as they can onto their profile, which will get them more attention. If you take the time to build a good profile and are open to talking to people from all places and all walks of life then you’ll get much more out of meetic.com than someone who just makes the least possible effort . And you’d want to get your money’s worth out of meetic.com because if you’re thinking of just paying for 1 month then you’re going to have your wallet hit pretty hard. The 6 month deal is actually good value, but it does feel as though you are being pressured into taking that 6 month contract because shorter periods cost considerably more per month.

Chatting is the key way to contact people on meetic.com, though you can also email them. Each member has a personal email account which is self contained and so won’t interrupt your personal email account that you use for everything else. You can also request that members only contact you, and vice-versa, if they have a photo of themselves, which can save time and effort in the long run. The “daily 6” feature is a good way to check out people who you might otherwise have missed: this system allows you to look at 6 different profiles per day based on your preferences. You can simply click “yes”, “no”, or “maybe” and therefore keep a record of the members you’re interested in getting to know a bit better.

Meetic.com merged with datingdirect.com and match.com back in 2009 and so it’s very much the same system, though performing the same searches do give you different profile matches. It’s worth performing a search with a free profile to ascertain if there are particular members on a particular site which would encourage you to use one over the other, though registering with any of these sites will automatically allow you to use all of them. 

Meetic.com's impressive database of members and in depth search functions make it a site definitely worth trying. It could benefit from a few more unique features but the ones it has will certainly help you to find someone special out there. Good luck.
