I saw some reviews and marketing so expected good things from this dating site. Unlike many, you cannot try it before you buy. I should have guessed why not, but only discovered the reasons once I had paid my subscription. On entering the site, I immediately saw l had been scammed by clever advertising hype. There are differences between marketing and reality but the huge disparity I found there was incredible.
I do not consider this a good dating site. I've used many paid and free dating sites. This is the worst I have ever seen. My experiences there were not positive at all. I include here some examples of things that I discovered on match.com UK.
Overall the site quality was poor. It looked dated, almost unfinished, more like a demo than a working system. The site layout was dreadful and showed distinct lack of proper design. The navigation options I found were quite limited. It frequently hung and ran slowly in most browsers on several different machines and operating systems.
Its search options were deliberately restricted; one has to pay extra for options other dating sites provide as standard. That alone makes it is more expensive. The graphics were very low quality. Members photos were barely usable; tiny thumbnails that could not be seen properly. Not at all useful on a dating web site.
The matching algorithms don't work properly if at all. Despite answering huge number of member questions and creating various profiles, the site dug up completely unsuitable people and claimed they were a good match. Some were even outside the specified age range. It thus failed miserably to justify claims made in the marketing material. A dating match site that can't match dates is no use to anyone.
Unfortunately, I also found there were a large number of fake or old member profiles of people who left long ago. The site people don't remove this redundant information even when notified. Since most female members rarely reply, chances of meeting real people on this site are small.
I experienced intermittent problems being locked out of the site for no apparent reason. I grew quite tired of emailing the site people. Weeks went by but they failed to get it sorted out. Several times, I used the site while travelling abroad. They kept locking my account due to 'security concerns'. Apparently they don't expect people to access their site whilst abroad.
There are billing irregularities and reports of member's bank accounts still being debited despite having clearly cancelled their membership subscriptions. Thus after the initial two months, I decided to cancel my subscription in plenty of time to ensure my 6 months already paid subscription didn't get automatically extended.
I needn't have worried. Before I could do so, just after two months, my membership was cancelled without any warning or notification. I got no refund and they had deleted my account. Clearly they treat their customers with impunity and don't care a fig about customer service.
I suggest potential members to carefully check online reviews for this site. They will verify what I have detailed here. There have been many complaints about this site. If I had seen those reviews, I would not have used this site. I am therefore unable to recommend match.com UK and advise people to avoid this dating site like the plague.
In summary, I would not recommend Match.com UK to a friend.
