Editor's Verdict:

Maxi Date has many good features and an easy to navigate layout. However, the different subscriptions do seem to let it down. The system is confusing and the prices seem a lot higher than similar sites. It seems unnecessary that there are different payment levels for essentially the same service, and would probably also mislead those new to the site. Maxi Date would benefit from simplifying their pricing plan. Having said that, they do offer an adequate free membership, and it is useful that you can buy a Lifetime membership, for a lump sum, which takes away all the worry of having to re-subscribe.

Maxi Date offers its users a low-cost phone call service. At first glance this may seem a good idea, however it's worth remembering that other sites provide this kind of service free in the form of audio conversation in instant messages. If you want to speak with another member, a better idea is to use the Chatterbox feature for free. This is a form of instant messenger where users can chat online in real time, and even via webcam, which adds a personal dimension to the online dating process. Like other dating sites, Maxi Date enables you to send and receive emails, and are alerted to new mail so you'll never fail to notice if someone special contacts you! Similarly, you can create audio profiles which will make you stand out that extra bit! These audto profiles are a must, especially if you have a sexy accent or honey-coated voice that will make a great impression!

We quite like the fact that Maxi Date allows you to pay for a friend, so you can buy someone you know a membership. It could be a welcome gift for someone in your life without a partner! No other dating sites we've seen do this so this is a totally original feature.

Users may make lists, such as HotLists or BlockLists in order to keep track of the people with whom they've spoken and whether they're interested in them. This is not a novel feature, most other websites provide this type of feature. However, it's an important one because it means that no one will slip through your radar, thereby making it easier for you to keep in sustained contact with that special someone.

The EarlyBird feature allows you to describe what you look for in a perfect partner. Maxi Date will then do all the hard work and email you all those who match your criteria. This makes it easier to find someone that's compatible with you. There's also the SuperMatch feature which is more in-depth, almost like a psychology test. Based on your responses to a range of questions about your personality, you receive suggestions about what kind of person you'd be good with. This may open you up to lots of new people, increasing your chances of finding love.

So, Maxi Date does provide some great features, but charges for other features that you could get free from other sites. The payment and subscription options may need to be re-structured to make them more competitive with rival sites that offer similar services at lower subscription rates.
